As part of our TADTalks series, we invite you to an engaging seminar that explores the intersection of literature, music, and culture through the vibrant world of the Harlem Renaissance. This session will focus on how jazz music and nightlife shaped the atmosphere, themes, and storytelling of short fiction in one of the most influential periods of American cultural history. In this thought-provoking session, Asst. Prof. Seda Şen, a faculty member at Başkent University’s Department of American Culture and Literature and a member of the American Studies Association of Turkey (ASAT), will guide us through selected short stories, examining how jazz functions not only as a musical genre but also as a cultural force that reflects identity, freedom, and artistic expression. What to Expect: Explore the role of jazz in shaping literary narratives. Discover the cultural and historical context of the Harlem Renaissance. Engage in thoughtful discussions on literature, music, and identity. Connect with fellow participants in an interactive learning environment. |
